Chicago (IL) – Taking a page out of Apple’s book, Google is now urging Gmail users to drop Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) in favor of Firefox or Chrome that, according to the company, run the popular web-based email service “twice as fast.” Google also labels IE6 as an unsupported browser, meaning it fails to run some Gmail features.

People spend a lot of time in email applications, so it makes sense to have links to other applications and useful information next to the email. Some would like to see their bookmarks, others would find useful to have their agenda and the list of to-do items. Google Gadgets in Gmail.

Ah these gadgets. I love them already. Again Google is making some great improvements to using Gmail.

I’ve moved my Chat list and Labels to the right, added custom colours to labels, I have my Calendar and Google Docs on the left.

One of the most useful enhancements so far is the ability to have a “Mark As Read” button. Seriously dear button, where have you been all this time. No more tedious clicking for me!
